Compounding Formulas from the Recent Journal Literature Compounding formulas are cited from recent (1997+) issues of four pharmacy journals. One of them, International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding (IJPC), is the first journal devoted to this important area of pharmacy practice; publication began in 1997. The other three are American Druggist, Pharmacy Times and U.S. Pharmacist which all have regular columns dedicated to compounding. Unfortunately American Druggist ceased publication at the end of 1999. Compounding formulas from other pharmacy journals also will be added as time allows. To organize the citations, we ordered them alphabetically by what we decided was the main (or first mentioned) ingredient and in some cases by the indication or dosage form. These decisions were subjective. In some cases, where the subject was not obvious to us from the title, we added a word for indexing purposes, in square brackets. Please use the alphabet bar to find your topic. Veterinary compounding formulas have their own section at the end of the alphabetical listing. We hope to add to this on a quarterly basis. Please be sure to let us know if you have any suggestions for making this listing more useful. formulation which would be palatable for her and only requires that we
give her 1 ml, three times a day. However, we cannot get this locally. The
bottle says 90 theophylline 10 mg/ml susp. It is in some sort of tuna
suspension. The proprietor of the closest apothecary refuses to share his
formulas. As it is, we are giving the poor car theophylline elixir 80/15
ml (in a cherry flavored suspension), which the cat gags on and spits out.
